Attributes of the Name of God

The eternal Bliss of God with its unlimited virtues omnipresently exists in this mayic creation in the form of His ‘names’ which are absolutely synonymous with the virtues of the Divine forms of God in Their respective Divine abodes. These names are the means of realizing and reaching God in your desired form; but you have to remember them with faith, dedication and proper understanding. The easiest way of their remembrance is through the chanting.

There are millions of people in the world who take the name of Krishn in their own way, but there are very few who understand the truth of Krishn name, and without proper understanding, true devotion can never start. It is important to understand the difference between material names and the Divine names.

The material name of any object is a word, given by people for their own understanding. In different tribes, communities and countries, the name of the same object differs according to the differences in language and its use. An object itself is real but its name is not. The languages of the world have been made, developed and refined by people. No language is self-created. A fruit grows on a tree, not the name. We can take and eat the fruit but cannot automatically know its name because names are linguistic symbols for particular objects so that the users of that language can express their thoughts in words. It is the same with peoples’ names. Suppose a tourist has lost his passport. Now he cannot be identified because his name, a word given by his family for identification, which was written on a piece of paper, is lost. So the name and the person are entirely separate.

Simply by looking at an object we cannot know its name. Similarly by listening to or reading about the name of any object, we cannot know what the object itself is like. Material name and its form are two entirely different things. The name does not exist in the form, and the form does not exist in the name. Moreover, the form is a reality but the name is arbitrary. But the situation with the Divine name is absolutely different.

The Divine names of Radha Krishn and Radha Krishn Themselves are one and the same. Their name is not a linguistic symbol or indication; it is the power of Krishn that appears in the form of ‘name’ and so it is Divine. The Divine name is a Divine embodiment which is self-existent in the Divine mind of a Saint. The Divine name is self-expressive and inherent in the Divine mind. Name is a Divine power, so the name ‘Krishn’ includes all the virtues of Krishn. The name, the virtues, the Divine abode, the personality and the leelas of Krishn and all the rasik Saints are inseparable forms of Krishn having similar Divine virtues.
